Yea Weekend Yea!
Thank god it’s the weekend! Seriously!
I have been running around like a mad woman the last few weeks!
With the lastest “cast-off” from the morning show being sick a lot and then quitting…it left me doing the work of 2 people.
Being a smaller market, we don’t have someone to answer the phones, produce the show, make the commercials, update the website, book the guests, run the board, plan for the week OR give us ideas on what to say for 4-hours – it’s been all me. I’m not complaining – I’m just saying it’s definitely taken some getting use to and effected my down time. Going from having a sufficient, go-getter partner (Joe) for nearly 4-years to nothing , has been quite an adjustment.
Prior to all of that though (when I still had a 2nd person), since things were slow at the station I figured adding a weekend gig would be a sweet deal. I signed on to work for 1 station on Saturdays, then another one came calling for Sundays – so for about a month I was doing both. So 5 days at XLC – getting up at 2:30am…and then all day. Plus Saturdays downtown, then Sundays downtown – I had no idea if I was coming or going. Then my Dad was in the hospital! Doh!
I finally had to resign from the Saturday deal. Things are picking up now at XLC w/summer just arond the corner…AND I had no time to eat, shop for groceries, live, etc. I needed at least 1-day to myself. TODAY is that day!
I still haven’t really seen my friends and family. Our relationships revolve around text messaging. I did have lunch with Sarah and Kelly on Wednesday. I talk to my sister everyday. Nita gets a phone call because she can’t text.
I was planning on sleeping and cleaning last night (since it looks like 10 tornadoes hit my room)…but I had no food in the house and a friend of mine happened to call at the moment I realized that so we went out to dinner…and then I came home and fell asleep with my clothes on, shoes on, and purse in hand. I talked to my friend just a few minutes ago and he said I was sleeping in the car almost the second we got in it. HA! Ya think I was tired or what? Oh well!
So far this morning, since I’m recharged from sleeping…I’ve been to the grocery store, bought a new vacuum, and all the stuff I need to clean…I just have to make it happen. Kelly really has been very helpful since her schedule is much different. So pretty much it’s just my room and laundry at this point.
I did make a promise to have my “day off” be all about personal stuff…but, I did ‘work’ a little. I put up some Freakshow weekend stuff on my website (check it out!) and I finally checked my myspace.
I NEED to catch up on e-mails…but I’ll do that later. So if you sent an e-mail to my XLC account – I’m not ignoring you…life has just been working me over time the last few weeks.
OMG! I almost forgot! Ya know what? I am almost too embarrassed to say this…I bought a laptop and a printer LAST WEEKEND and haven’t even taken it out of the box! My neighbor Mark helped me (he’s Mr. Computer – thank you dear) and even sent me an e-mail saying to bring it over and he’d go over some things on it…and I was like yea, about that…still in the box! I suck! I’m hoping at some point today I’ll make that happen! Can you believe that?! It’s like I get home from work though and think, I’ve got 2 hours to spare until I have to start getting stuff together for tomorrow…do I sleep, or take out my laptop? Since I was feeling under the weather the 2nd choice just seemed to keep happening. Oh well!
Anyways, tomorrow I do work at ‘the other place’…so get all the info on my website and listen! It’s a lot different than XLC – but it’s a station that I grew up listening to, and being there is still such a trip to me – be it only for 1 day a week!
Well I have lots of stuff to do!
Have a wonderful weekend!
I can’t wait to hear all about Tax Free w/XLC!
Talk to you soon!

Rebecca, we missed you at the Tax Free finale! It sounds like you’re running yourself ragged, so it was a good thing you weren’t there so you could have some YOU time.
I’m surprised that you and Joe did all the stuff for the morning show yourself. So many other stations have a 3rd person in some sort of capacity to help. It’s alot on your plate and we thank you for working so hard for us.
I can’t believe you bought a new laptop and printer and it’s still in the box. I’m like a kid at Chirstmas when I get new “toys”. I can’t wait to try them out. I make my husband drop EVERYTHING if it’s something I need his help with. We’re getting my daughter a new computer and I’m so excited!!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend, even if the weather is crappy!
Oh yeah, more Isabella pics, please!!
