Hey!
It’s definitley fall! Can you believe it?
This will be a short blog – just checking in to see what’s up!
Jingle bash tickets are on sale now at www.b96.com so get them while they’re hot! Rihanna and Jesse McCartney have already been confirmed so hop to it! I can’t wait! Allstate Arena 12/16! Great early Christmas gift! Hope to see you there!
Also, 2 Halloween parties! City and Suburbs so grab the costume and come hang! I have no clue what I’m going to be – but I’ll deal with that later!
I’m off the next few days. My dad is having surgery tomorrow so my focus is him and my family. I don’t want to think about it or talk about it but it’s happening regardless of how I try to avoid it. I just pray that god willing, this will all be over and he will pull through with flying colors. I don’t have a ‘Plan B’. None of us do.
Anyhow, I’ve got a hot day of cleaning my house and paying bills. So off to start checking things off my list!

I just looked at my calendar and realized that my sweet Isabella (great niece) is going to be 1 YEAR OLD at the end of the month?! Isn’t that insane?!
Where the hell has the time gone?
Speaking of time…I am having trouble sleeping again! It sucks worse than anything. My body is tired and I lie down and go through the motions and NOTHING! The last time I had a really good sleep was about 2 weeks ago and tequila was involved and I DO NOT want to revert back to that. Thanks Mark and Tommy!
Anyhow, today I’m off and doing some random errands. I want to get everything done before next week because my Dad is going in for surgery on the 16th. That is what I’m writing off my ‘no sleep’ as – stress.
We’ve known for a while that his surgery was coming up – but it’s something you don’t want to think about. When I start to fall asleep I have these horrible nightmares about my Dad. His doctors assured us that there is an 80% success rate for the procedure, but it’s the 20% that is kicking my ass. I was talking with my old friend Sally last night – her father is battling prostate cancer – and it’s the scariest thing in the world to see your parents as anything less than invincible. Life is nothing what I would’ve imagined one year ago…but I’m still standing right? Not sleeping, but standing! HA! Can’t have it all I suppose.
Other than that, everything else is going great! B96 is awesome! We are planning a Jingle Bash (just like the Summerbash, but in December) and I am so frickin excited! Get to www.b96.com and sign up for the alerts for when we start announcing the peformers! GOOD STUFF!!!
Some other things – my best friend got married last weekend. The best wedding I’ve ever been to (my pics are on my myspace) and I’m broadcasting from Lake Zurich on Saturday so I’m close to home and you should come and see me! DO IT!!!

Hi!
Hope everyone is doing well! Long time no blog, I know! But I’m here and making it happen so it’s all good!
Here’s a quick recap of what’s been going down….
-Getting ready for my best friend’s wedding on 10.4.08!
-My Dad and sister had a birthday so we went to last Thursday’s Cubs game which was AWESOME!!!
-My other best friend Genie got married and it was one of the best weddings I’ve ever been to! It was perfect!
-Kelly and Sophie are offically gone and my house is MY HOUSE only and it’s fabulous. Everything just got repainted and their was a snaffoo with the furniture I bought so it’s on back order but will be here soon enough!
-My niece Katie is graduating early in December and will start Medical School in the fall
-Abelardo is in the fishbowl in the sky. He floated away on 8/17…and there is a new Abelardo now. Not quite as handsome, but I love him too.
-B96 is wonderful
-Isabella is gonna be ONE next month!!!
That’s pretty much the highlights!
On the burner…
I’m eagerly waiting for all my friggin furnature to come in before I start drilling holes in the walls and hanging stuff up…my patience is wearing thin though!
I’m really excited for Kanya’s wedding. I was joking with my boss saying I won’t need anymore days off I PROMISE because there is no one left to get married! I love weddings and I’d cut my arm off for Kanya (and Genie), but i’m all wedding’ed out. No more thanks!
My friend Sebastian is going to be in town for like 6 weeks so I’m really excited! He’s going to be performing at the Zanies in Chicago in December so buy your tickets now before they sell out!
That’s pretty much it for right now! I have to post my pics from the Cubs game. My parents were so cute. ALL they do is watch baseball now that they are retired. My parents have been in this area for over 40 years and have never been to a game so they wre like little kids. After the year we’ve had with my Dad health-wise it was the best feeling in the world to see him happy and enjoying himself – even for just a few hours. I know I will cherish that day for the rest of my life. He was so happy and full of energy he didn’t even need a wheel chair. I get all choked up just thinking about it. All of us think of our parents as invincible in a way and to have that change is so scary (for lack of a better word). I’m just happy that he had this day and that all of us were there to share it with him.

HI!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful week! I just updated “Rebecca’s Rumors” so make sure you check it out! Hot stuff! I’m trying something new – instead of putting the “RR’s Red Hot of the Day” I’m leaving stuff up from past days so people can catch up or go back and reread stuff. I think it’s working out better?! Your thoughts?
My weekend was good. Worked, hung out…but something that’s been stuck in my head was the wedding I went to. It’s really made me sit back and think about things.
The wedding was my friend Fatty’s dad’s wedding on Friday. His dad and new wife seem really happy and I hope it works out. The backstory is his parents were married 32 years and then divorced. His Mom remarried about 2 months after. It’s been about 3 years since it happened and it’s just so hard on him.
It’s funny because you think being older (he’s 32 now) it would make it easier, but he told me that he wanted everything his parents had and then to see it fall apart so easily after so long makes him think that nothing is meant to last. He doesn’t speak to his Mom anymore (loooong story) and he and his dad are super tight. He is really worried that his Dad will get hurt again. He’s only known the woman a few months, and she’s been married 3 times before. It’s not that he didn’t want him to get married or that he doesn’t like the lady – he just wanted him to wait a while. What’s the rush right? The woman really does seem great, but when they were exchanging vows (Fatty was the best man), I could see Fatty wiping away tears. It sucked for lack of a better phrase, but it is what it is ya know? He knows his dad is a grown man who makes his own decisions, he was “being a good son” and just standing by his side – at least that’s what I believe and kept telling him.
What a weird situation right? I can’t get it out of my head for some reason. I feel where he is coming from but I just have a different outlook I suppose. Maybe it’s wishy-washy and unrealistic – but all I know is ride or die…MAKE IT WORK!(very Tim Gunn I know) My parents have been married 47 years, my oldest sister Patty has been married 27 years, my other sister Sylvia almost 14. I’d like to think IF I ever get married it will be forever.
I’ve never been in a rush to get married, or felt pressure because “all my friends were doing it”. When and if the time is right it will happen. Fatty’s dad was engaged to another woman a year after his parents divorced. He just wanted to get married so bad it didn’t matter to who (the woman was HORRIBLE – so wrong). I don’t get that. Three months after that relationship ended, he met the woman he married…and then married her right away. I guess if you know, you just know but, I just don’t get it?!
I’ve seen girlfriends (and guy friends) rush in to ‘the next step’ because they felt they were getting old or their family was pressuring them. That’s a luxury I never had to deal with. My sisters were so much older than me that by the time I wasn’t a baby anymore, my sister was having them so there was never any pressure to shoot out kids or wrangle me up a guy to help my Dad do repair work. Done and done already thanks to both my sisters…and now Jess who is 27 and doing the marriage/family thing.
Genie and Kanya (my best friends) are getting married and their relationships are AWESOME! As couples they just have this energy about them – they have fun together, have great careers, beautiful homes, they travel, and their in-laws are so much fun! I am so happy for them. I WILL NOT settle down unless I can have that for myself ya know? Who says by a certain age you need to have 2.5 kids and a corner lot? I am extremely independent and I can’t imagine compromising that. The man would have to be borderline superhero or something. I can cook and sew and all that crap…but can you seem me married? I’m the best aunt ever…but can you see ME pregnant?! BARF! It’s just not me.
What is me is LIVING BY MYSELF! (Switching subjects) I am so all about having my house solo. Kelly and Sophie have been out since the last week in July. It’s odd because we lived together 5 years…but it rules. Remember a loooong time ago when Joe shot that cribs at my house? I want to do a new one, but they still have to paint and my new furnature isn’t being delivered until after the fact so that will be on hold.
Anyhow, I just realized what time it is and have to wrap this up! Katie (my neice) is going back to school on Monday so I think I’m going to go stalk her. I won’t get to see her until December! 
BUT, she is graduating so that will be awesome 
Plus, my friend CB007 gets back from Cali today so I want to hear how his job interview went.

Hey look at me blogging like a month later than my past entry! I suck. I talked to Joe (Cicero, formerly of the “Joe and Rebecca Show”) and he said that one of our listeners (Hi Barbara!) asked him when I was going to blog. Too funny. Honestly, I’ve been meaning to do it just about everyday, and update the website – but life is pulling me in a bunch of different directions so I’ve been trying to keep up!
You’ll be happy to know that THE WHOLE website has been updated – Rebecca’s Rumors, my calendar, etc – so catch up and I’ll keep up!
Anyhow, my life has been filled with weddings, weddings, weddings – and no none of them have been my own rest assured!
Both of my best friends are getting married this summer so NO JOKE – EVERY weekend has been filled with work @ B96…and then a shower, bachelorette party or planning – seriously! This has been going on since my last entry! EVERY weekend. The good thing is that Kanya (one of the brides – my best friend – who lives in D.C but is getting married in Chicago) has been home every weekend planning and going to stuff for Genie’s Wedding which is 8/23.
Aside from those 2 weddings, my weekdays have been filled with my good friend Tracy moving to Alabama yesterday (she is engaged and getting married in December – her fiance is a fighter pilot stationed out there), my friend Sarah moving 2 weeks ago (Tracy’s roommate), Kelly moving out last week, my good friend CB may be moving to Cali, and Fatty’s dad is getting married and he’s freaking out!
So much is going on I was joking around saying I had no idea how I was doing because I’ve been playing 75 supporting roles!
What else can I share? B96 is fabulous – I’m so happy and am settled in well. I’ve been hearing from some old XLC listeners a lot lately who didn’t know where I went. It feels good!
Some other tidbits, I’ve been filling in here and there at 97 ZOK in Rockford – no changes so don’t panic, just helping out some old friends in need, spending time w/my niece Katie who is still home from College (FSU), trying to see Isabella (who is 9mos and starting to walk), and trying to squeeze in some cocktails and time with family and friends.
Life is good – no complaints, just the question, “Where does the time go”!
This weekend my friend Sebastian will be in town, Fatty’s Dad is getting married tomorrow so I am going to be his date/support system, and then B96 both Saturday and Sunday! Yippee!
I put up some pics on my myspace so check them out! I’ll have to get them on my site for those who aren’t on it.
That’s about it! Hope everyone is good! I know I haven’t been overly attentive to the site but I’m just trying to adjust to all the changes!

Holy crap is the week gone already? Who knew!
Hope you had a great week! My week was filled w/birthdays and a ton of annoying random things that needed to get done even though I was avoiding them at all costs. (Renewing license plate sticker, switching the Comcast bill etc). But it’s all done -and Mama’s ready for a cocktail!
As for birthdays….my friend Sebastian’s b-day was on Tuesday, and yesterday was my sister Sylvia’s birthday. Neither of them live here (Seb in L.A and Sylvia in Austin) so I had to send my wishes over the phone. Sebastian reminded me not to forget his gift. Riiiight!
ANYHOW, I’m all over the place this weekend. Tomorrow I’m broadcasting from the Dairy Queen in Munster, IN. Then Sunday I’m pulling a double – on from 7am-Noon and then from 7pm to Midnight so make sure to listen!
As for the title of the blog – do not be decieved! B96 is my home! But my home is visiting LAKE COUNTY! YEA! It sucks because a lot of the places they send me are so far from Lake County that I don’t get to see my old listeners from XLC BUT next Saturday, July 19th I will be doing my show (10am-2pm) from the Walmart in Zion! PLEASE come out and say hi! It will be so much fun! I am really excited to see some familiar faces! Plus, I want you guys to come out and see why I love my station SO much – the people are wonderful and I want you all to meet! It will be like a family reunion!
PLUS, just added to my calendar – I will be a judge for the Little Miss Lake County pageant! As most of you know I have a past in pageants and have helped with the Lake County pageant for the last 5 years. I just got off the phone with Alice Brownley, the director and I am on board! Alice and her crew are wonderful and run such a fun and well-put together pageant I am always honored to help and be a part of it.
While the Lake County Fair is going on the week of July 21st – the actual Little Miss Pageant will be on Thursday, July 24th. Obviously, I won’t be able to chit-chat while I’m judging – but I will be there so if you can’t make the Zion date – come see me then – or BOTH!

What’s up!
Hope everyone had a great holiday!
It went so fast right?
I did work most of the week at ZOK and then all weekend at B96 – but I still found time to play.
There was the annual Gala in our town so me and the girls plus my friend Chris (who we joke is one of the girls) checked out some bands and booze. I put the pics up on my myspace – they are pretty funny so check them out.
On the 4th, I went to a BBQ @ my parents and then met up w/the girls again and had too good of a time…and had to go to work the next day which was special.
My best friend Kanya was in town w/her fiance Edgar doing some wedding stuff so I got to spend some quality time with them.
My friend Sebastian was in town also. Sadly, all of my out of town friends went back to their homes today. Kanya & Edgar are from D.C, Sebastian is from L.A.
They will both be back in 3 weeks (just by coincidence at the same time) so I can’t wait.
Other than that, I am back to business. I worked out. I updated the music on the site. I’m blogging like a good little Rebecca, and Rebecca’s Rumors will be back in business! I didn’t get to it today because I was panicing over my photo shoot tomorrow!
Yes, you read that right – photo shoot. Tomorrow is my first official photo shoot with B96! I’m excited, but freaking out a little bit. I want the pics to look good, and like me – but I have no clue what to wear!? I know that sounds stupid. I talked to Fattie about it for a while today and he thinks I’m insane. All he really said was “wear black” since everything I wear and own is black. Great thanks.
So that’s pretty much all I have for right now.
I’m watching the “Bachelorette” (I know, I know) and I am so in love with Jesse! If DeAnna doesn’t pick him I’ll be crushed! The other dude Jason seems a little girly to me. I think she likes him better. Wow. I gotta get out of the house. HA!

Hope all of you had a great week!
I was with my old friends back at 97 ZOK in Rockford this past week and will be there until Wednesday next week too! I left there to go to B96, and they have always been so wonderful to me. I told them if they ever needed anything to holla, and that they did. So with the blessing of my boss at B96 I have been helping out.
It’s funny because I started working for ZOK about 2 years in to my gig at XLC. I honestly hit a rough spot, and wanted to see what else was out there so I made a demo – which was hard to do since I was with Joe at the time and how was I going to show off my work when everything was the 2 of us? Either way, I did it, and I also made a list of the stations I listened to and then sent it off to them.
Todd Cavanah, my boss now at B96 responded but said something like, it has potential, send me more stuff when you get it. Didn’t have anything else, wah-wah!
Then the only other person to respond was the PD at ZOK at the time Tom Lazar (who is now in Cali). He and I had a meeting and he said he didn’t have anything full-time but had weekend stuff. He asked what my goals were and a boss had never really asked me that! I spilled my guts to him about things I was not happy with, and for the first time really said out loud what I wanted from my career. I trust him so much. He gave me amazing advice and has always been there for me.
I was always paranoid that if I ever left, that no one would even consider me as a solo act, because I had a partner – and that it would imply I wasn’t good enough on my own. I started there a few weeks later and did a few days a month. It was a great way to become comfortable with the technical side, plus, I was playing music I liked, and it really developed my skills being on by myself. It made me better all around and really pushed me to want to be better on XLC.
I was honest about doing weekends at ZOK and even talked to my boss before the interview. Sadly, Tom left for Cali about 6 months in – I still keep in touch, but the bonus was I filled in his shift for a few months until they found his replacement. I would do the morning show at XLC and then rush to Rockford to do drive time. It was insane. But I loved it.
Working on the weekends was great, but I really got to know the staff being there during the week. Jammer came on eventually – and I went back to the regular. But my ZOK friends are the best. Getting to see them in person and not just talk to them or text has been awesome. They know all the changes in my life and career that have happened and are so supportive. My new home is B96, but my friends at ZOK are for life. I adore them (XOXO – Jenna, Allasia, JB, Steve and Leigh)
It was funny when I went in for the first time on Thursday morning they were like “tell me all about B96!” because they LOVE the station AND Jobo use to work there back in the day. Small world right?
So yea, that’s all I got for that.
Other stuff, I’m at B96 today but I’m working 2-6pm instead of my norm because Julian has that Dub car show thing. I’m debating if I want to do public transportation because of the taste of Chicago and the Cubs/Sox game today. I would rather drive…but I don’t really want to get stuck in mass traffic. We’ll see.
Other than that, my niece Katie is home from college for 2 months and I’m so happy she’s home.
My friend Sebastian will be in town next week and I’m so very excited.
And that’s about it. since Katie is in town she’s watching Isabella so she can spend time with her so I didn’t get to see her this week
She is crawling FAST and all over the place. Jess is freaking out because she keeps catching her standing in her pack and play and she’s afraid she’s gonna fall out. She’s growing so fast! I put a video of her on my myspace if you want to check it out.

Hola!
Hope everyone is having a great week so far! It’s hard to believe it’s Wednesday already right?!
Anyhow, a little recap action.
So Saturday was my first Summerbash with B96! (I went to one like a million years ago…but this was my first as an employee)
It was a blast. To be honest I really didn’t know what to expect. I almost had a heart attack getting there though because there was this insane accident on the way and I was stuck in traffic (as in not moving for over 30 minutes)! But I got there on time for my 10a-2p shift so it was all good.
I put the pics up in the new PICTURE section of the site – so check it out. J-Niice was joking with me since I was taking a ton of pictures like “oh you’re THAT girl”. The funny thing is I was THAT girl until the actual show started and then I was so in to it I didn’t take a single pic really!
I was fortunate to see the park empty – and saw everything being set up…and knew all the planning that went in to it, so to see that (and have pics like a dork) and then to see it in full force was nothing less than amazing. The listeners were awesome. I am not officially on the B96 website yet so people who won tickets to the show from me were actually looking for me to thank me and that was by far one of the best things for me personally. I can proudly and HONESTLY say, I love my job, I love my co-workers, and my first official big event with B96 was an A+! It really was over-whelming for me – and I can’t wait to do it again!
I have 2 funny stories to share.
1)I spent all day frickin Friday looking for something to wear. Like 2 weeks ago I saw 400 things I liked…but when I actually looked – NADA! I got something that was adequate and got a lot of compliments so I felt good…until I saw the pics online! OH DEAR JESUS! The shirt was a baby doll shirt and it was windy…and I look like I’m wearing maternity clothes! I nearly died. I know it’s lame – but if people didn’t make it to the show and this is the first they are seeing of me – I don’t want to get baby gifts ya know?
2)I LOVE TKA! OMG! You have no idea. I know every song, have every CD,etc. When they were performing (they were the flashback artist) my friend Lindsay was dying laughing like “Oh my gosh how do you know this?” (She had no clue who they were and so I had to school her). So anyway, I was going backstage with this guy Gil from the station and we were both talking about how much we love TKA and then all of a sudden Kayel was standing there (from the group)! So like a bunch of dorks were took pictures with him and were all giggly. He’s always running the board Sunday morning when I get to work and that’s the first thing he said to me the day after the show, “Wasn’t that cool how we met Kayel”.
Anyways, that’s all I have about that right now.
So what makes this a big week? Well for starters…
Make sure you send Tim Vander Tuuk a MASSIVE congrats! He won a Silver Dome award for News broadcasting (it’s like the Emmys of Radio). I love my Timmy! I miss my Timmy. WOO HOO! He was nominated before I left but I totally forgot last night was the ceremony. He text, “I’m the Champion! Sara call my parents” – I was like what the heck does that mean? Then he told me! I’m so happy for him. I hope someone gives that kid a fat raise so he can make me some more Vander Tuuks soon – Jake is going to be 2 next week! Can you believe it!
THEN, the other big news, my niece Katie is coming home to visit! She’ll be home Saturday, and she turns 21 on Sunday! WOO HOO! She’ll be here for about a month from Florida and then will go back to school. She is graduating early (from FSU) in December and will then start Medical School. My little braniac!
So, now I’m officially spent! I got nothing else right now!
On that note, I’m off to the gym – I figured I’d get everything online up-to-date since Kelly is gone and it’s quiet right now.
I changed all the music on the site and UPDATED “Rebecca’s Rumors” so check it out!
